Blood Doping Works

Yesterday, a 15:00/mile pace pushed my heart rate to 160.

Today, a 13:20/mile pace kept my heart rate at or below 140.

The difference? A couple of bags of blood.

  1. According to the media you and Lance Armstrong *may* have something in common regarding this..... ;)

  2. Hello Joe,

This is Doris and Les in CA, your mom’s cousin.

It would have been wonderful to have met someone like you when I was going through chemo. Your spirit, sense of humor and writings are as uplifting as anything could possibly be as you reach out and touch each one of us.

Those many hours I spent with “Ivy” gave time for reflection and opened my eyes to a new world. Oh, what I would have given to have someone like you to have shared this time with me.

Please know that you are in our hearts and we look forward to reading you blog each day knowing that you are taking the next step to a complete recovery.

Our best to you and Jan. Lovingly……Doris & Les (The Magician)

  3. Along the longs of the comment from Doris and Les... Sometimes I think we're not so much supporting you as you are supporting us with your frequent updates and sense of humor. But we'll also be all ears if your sense of humor fails from time to time.

    Lots of love.

  4. You could think of training without enough red blood cells as the equivalent of **extremely** high altitude training--extremely high as in Everest-level elevation.
